The body check-in

A simple way to tune back in

Sometimes, we fall out of touch with our bodies without even noticing. We rush through meals, ignore tiredness, power through aches, or scroll instead of rest. Weeks go by before we realise we’ve been living mostly from the neck up.

A body check-in is a small way to reconnect — to pause and ask, What’s going on in there? Not to judge or fix, but to listen. Because your body is always sending signals; we just get too busy (or too hard on ourselves) to hear them.

Here’s a gentle way to start tuning back in:

  1. Slow down and notice.
Take a few minutes each day to check in — not in the mirror, but in your body. Where do you feel tension? Hunger? Calm? Simply naming what you feel starts to rebuild awareness.

  2. Ask what it needs.
Cravings, fatigue, restlessness — they’re messages, not weaknesses. Maybe your body’s asking for water, movement, quiet, or a proper break. Try meeting one small need today.

  3. Be kind in the conversation.
Your body doesn’t need a lecture; it needs patience. Speak to yourself the way you would to someone you care about — with encouragement, not critique.

  4. Choose one act of care.
Stretch before bed. Eat something nourishing. Step outside for air. Simple gestures, done consistently, remind your body it can trust you again.

Reconnecting with your body isn’t about control — it’s about partnership. When you start listening, it responds in kind: with more energy, steadiness, and ease.
